About University of the Pacific
The University of the Pacific was founded in 1851, on the 10th on July, under the name of California Wesleyan College. It was renamed in 1911 as the College of the Pacific, until 1961, when the name of the University of the Pacific was settled, remaining the same today.
The campus was originally located in Bay Area, being relocated in 1925 in the Central Valley area of Stockton, spreading across over 170 acres of urban land.
Over the years, the university grew, having today an enrollment of nearly 5000 students, offering numerous major degrees, through various affiliated colleges and schools, such as the Arthur A. Dugoni School of Dentistry, the College of the Pacific, the Eberhardt School of Business, McGeorge School of Law and Thomas J. Long School of Pharmacy and Health Sciences.
The sports teams that are representing the university in various collegiate championships are known as the Tigers, having the Power Cat as their official mascot, covering sports areas such as basketball, baseball, softball, soccer, volleyball and swimming.
The Tigers finished the 2004-2005 season with the best record in the school’s history, at 27-4.
The university has been highly ranked by U.S. News and World Report, placing it among the top 100 schools and calling it one of the 50 “Great Schools at Great Prices”, for 7 years in a row.
